Understand what makes a media file larger

Duration and total bitrate are the most direct size drivers. Video bitrate, audio bitrate, and container overhead contribute to the final result. Resolution and frame rate influence typical bitrate needs, but two 1080p files can differ greatly because their codecs and encoder settings are different.

Audio-only files are usually smaller than full video at the same duration. A higher MP3 bitrate uses more data per second. Variable bitrate can change with content complexity, so the final size may not match a simple constant-bitrate calculation exactly.

Choose only the quality the task needs
